Décor: You cannot miss Pronto. From down the street, you can easily see the giant flaming outdoor heaters. The restaurant is a large space with high ceilings and art covered stucco walls, all of which evoke a very Italian/European feeling. There is ample space if you’re looking to throw a larger party, but corners intimate enough for a date. The wall near the bar is a gigantic wine shelf extending from floor to high ceiling, which is storage in the loose sense of the word, but also a beautiful part of the décor. Staff: The staff at Pronto are very professional. From knowing fine details about the wine list to every ingredient in any given dish. All the staff that worked with me was English speaking and courteous, which not all Israeli waiters are. All in all, there is a very qualified staff working at Pronto. Food: All the food that I tasted at Pronto was delicious. I highly recommend the stuffed zucchini blossoms; they’re worth killing for. The delicate flowers are stuffed with anchovies and mozzarella cheese, and served still attached to the baby zucchini itself. Roasted eggplant in Gorgonzola cream sauce is also a good choice. The eggplant is grilled on the outside, and then finished in the oven, until it is fork tender. The sauce is rich, but doesn’t over power the delicate eggplant. Daily specials should not be over looked here. On the night I visited Pronto, blue fish was on the menu. The fish was pan roasted with lemon and herbs, served atop asparagus risotto. Normally, such a light fish wouldn’t be served with risotto for fear of over powering the fish. This is definitely taken into consideration with this dish. The risotto itself is cooked perfectly, but flavors are slightly held back to better showcase the fish, showing not only the ability to cook, but also the culinary knowledge needed to pull of this dish. Desserts at Pronto are classic Italian favorites, like tartufu and tiramisu. I recommend the tiramisu. No chances are taken with the dish, but the cake itself is second to none. If able, bring someone who knows wine. The wine list itself is a tome filled with a large variety of international and Israeli wine. Final thought: Italian isn’t my personal favorite cuisine, which kind of makes me biased, but in the case of Pronto, I’m convinced otherwise. With hearty, delicious food, there’s no reason not to go to Pronto. So take a break from your local trattoria and head to Pronto.
